The New Ford Escape is Better Than Ever, And Dominating the Competition

For years, the Ford Escape has given drivers in the greater New York and Newark area a topnotch option for a getting the SUV style and utility they want, with the drivability and easygoing nature of a compact car. At Stevens Jersey City Ford, we enjoy showing our customers everything the Escape can do for them, and we want to help you get to know it a little better.

If you're in the market for a five-passenger SUV to take you from school in Elizabeth to the NY office, the Escape should be at the top of your list. Now in its fourth exciting generation, the latest Ford Escape models we have available at our Jersey City dealership offer a more refined ride, more power, and a zippier acceleration than ever before.

Of course, as much as we appreciate the virtues of the new Ford Escape, we also understand there are a number of other small SUVs out there that may be clambering for your attention. Here, we've placed the Escape next to a similarly sized SUV, the Honda CR-V, to illustrate for you a handful of the ways in which our crossover bests the competition.

The Ford Escape vs. the Honda CR-V

  • Size and passenger space. Looking at the exterior of these two SUVs side by side, you'll notice that, while they're the same height, the Ford has a wider wheelbase, and a longer length. What this translates into for you and your passengers, is more space. In fact, the Ford Escape has about inch of extra legroom in both the front and the backseats when compared to the Honda CR-V.
  • Engine options and power. Ford understands drivers like options, and the new Escape delivers. Two gas-powered engines and a new hybrid system are available with the Escape, starting with a turbocharged 1.5-liter 3-cylinder engine that puts out 181 horsepower, and including an upgraded turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with 250 horsepower. The Honda CR-V, on the other hand, only has one engine available in its lineup, a turbocharged four-cylinder that offers 190 horsepower. This single engine option has a little more power than the base Ford powertrain, although not much more, and it doesn't even compete with the upgraded Escape option.
  • Features. Both the Honda CR-V and the Ford Escape have similar rosters of standard and available features. But the Ford goes above and beyond to supply Jersey City drivers with the amenities they really want. For example, both models have a touchscreen interface with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto for their upper-level trims. But the Ford touchscreen is a high-tech, nice, crisp 8-inch, while the Honda is an outdated 7-inch the model's been using for years. Elsewhere, both SUVs have a lengthy list of standard safety features. But Ford supplies a little more, including their signature MyKey system of parental controls for parents of teenaged drivers. Meanwhile, the Honda CR-V doesn't offer a teen driving safety system anywhere in its lineup.
