Ford F-150 Engine Options Explained

Newark-area Ford F-150 shoppers have several options—six, to be exact—when it comes to selecting the best powertrain for their needs. Many F-150 trim levels can be equipped with a choice of engines, but not every engine is available on every trim. Some engines are standard on certain trims and optional on others; and a couple are only optional. To make things a little easier, we’ve organized the available engine choices below. Here’s where you can find each engine in the F-150 lineup.

  • 3.3-liter Ti-VCT V-6: Standard on XL and XLT trims, this engine makes 290 horsepower and 265 pound-feet of torque.

  • 2.7-liter EcoBoost V-6: Standard on the Lariat trim and optional on XL and XLT trims, this engine generates 325 horsepower and 400 pound-feet of torque.

  • 5.0-liter Ti-VCT V-8: Standard on King Ranch and Platinum models and optional on supporting trims, this burly V-8 is rated at 395 horsepower and 400 pound-feet of torque.

  • 3.5-liter EcoBoost V-6: This engine is available on XL, XLT, Lariat, King Ranch, and Platinum trims. It generates 375 horsepower and 470 pound-feet of torque.

  • H.O. 3.5-liter EcoBoost V-6: Standard on Limited (and Raptor) models, this “High-Output” engine generates 450 horsepower and 510 pound-feet of torque.

  • 3.0-liter Power Stroke Turbo Diesel V-6: Available on XLT, Lariat, King Ranch, and Platinum, this diesel option generates 250 horsepower and 440 pound-feet of torque.
